During the Victorian age, very high levels of skill were exercised in the creation of both art and everyday objects – it was an age when what something looked like really mattered. In contrast, our modern world is fixated on mass production at rock bottom dollar. But we do have some really cool technology the Victorians couldn’t have even dreamt of. What happens if you mix that beautiful Victorian aesthetic with the best of the modern world? The answer of course, is Steampunk. An utterly modern artistic movement unashamedly referencing the past. It’s an alternative future that never happened; a best of both worlds.
